1583 - Grade II listed pub

A riverside tavern that once catered for the locally employed dockers of the Limehouse Basin.

By the time of Queen Elizabeth I the London docks were teeming with ships embarking on trips to the new colonies of the British Empire and the onshore workforce was expanding rapidly.

The current building dates from the 1720s. It survived the intense bombing of the London docks in World War II.
